Nature’s private
 sphere

Physical Computing

An interactive installation about closeness, respect, and the boundary with nature.

In the installation, a piece of moss symbolically represents nature—alive, yet often overlooked or taken for granted. It invites closeness, but not without limits: nature has its own "personal space" that should be respected.

Visitors can slowly move their hand into the installation. At first, glowing LEDs respond—a quiet sign of openness and acceptance. But if a certain distance is crossed, a clear tone sounds via a piezo buzzer. This tone signals: a boundary has been reached.

The installation thus explores respectful interaction with plant life and raises awareness of the often invisible thresholds between closeness and intrusion.
